Science Theme Tours
Whalewatching(For grades five and up)
Our most popular trip, year after year, and for good reason. Cape Cod whalewatching is rated the best in the world! Spectacular sightings of finbacks, minkes, humpbacks and even rare North Atlantic Right whales highlight any visit to this most fascinating region. Additional activities include a visit to Boston and the New England Aquarium or the Boston Museum of Science (don't miss Van der Graaf's original man-made lightning show), a naturalist-led salt marsh hike exploring the marine food chain, a hands-on oceanography lab aboard a floating classroom, a walk or bike ride amidst some of the tallest coastal dunes on the continent, and a visit to the new office of Titanic discoverer Dr. Robert Ballard at the newly expanded Mystic Aquarium. Plus, for a multidisciplinary context, how about an historical trolley tour, a computer museum, a witch dungeon museum, Harvard University, and live theater or an evening laser show! Bermuda Biostation(For grades eight and up)
What a great place for your best science students! A subtropical setting on a magnificent island, just two hours flight from the mainland. Each day includes a classroom lecture and/or lab session followed by a guided field trip to such places as a private nature reserve, a spectacular coral reef, a limestone cavern or a pink sand beach. Accommodations are on the campus of this world-famous institute, formerly an exclusive resort, and include private rooms (most with bath), and three fresh buffet meals daily. Air and ground transportation along with instruction, labs and field trips are all arranged. It's another thrilling lifetime science adventure by CTA.
Niagara Falls(For grades six and up)
One of the natural wonders of the world and a great place for Earth Science! Expert nature guides lead a hike to the bottom of the gorge and back to a point where the falls were located long ago to see for yourself the effects of erosional forces. Glide over the gorge on a cable car, and nearly under the falls in a boat. Experience the sense of nearly going over the falls with the help of a heart-pounding IMAX film. A daytrip to Toronto and their fabulous Ontario Science Center or world-class Metro Zoo should not be missed. Perhaps your route can take you to the Herkimer Diamond Mines where hammers are distributed and everyone becomes a prospector and you keep what you find. Let CTA design an educational package that's right for your time frame and budget.
Washington, D.C. and Baltimore(For grades five and up)
Let us design a science or multidisciplinary program for you and your students geared to their grade level and course of study. Combining the Smithsonian, National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center, Museum of Health and Medicine, and National Geographic with some of the historical, government, and cultural sights in DC creates a program that is diverse, educational and fun. Adirondack Park: Earth Science
At 6.1 million acres, it is America's largest wilderness park outside of Alaska. Spread over nearly a third of New York State, the Park covers more ground than Grand Canyon and Yellowstone national parks combined. This region in Northern New York contains 3,000 ponds and lakes, 2,000 miles of hiking trails, and, of course, the amazing Adirondack Mountains with its igneous outcrops and rich mineral deposits. With local expert guides, students raft an ancient canyon, canoe a pristine lake, tour an historic revolutionary-era fort, explore the Olympic village, collect natural garnets and hike a daunting peak. Winter trips feature skiing, bobsledding tobogganing, skating and snow hikes. Studying Earth Science was never so much fun

Costa Rica: Biodiversity(with Spanish language enrichment)
The Republic of Costa Rica is the crowning jewel of Latin America. With one of the highest literacy rates in the world along with a treasure of teeming natural resources including rainforests, spectacular volcanoes, hot springs and fascinating and unique plants and animals, this captivating country is a stunning tourist destination. The plush resorts and beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean draw travelers from the world over, but as a Science and Spanish language destination, it offers tremendous opportunity for students of middle and high school age. Most tour packages are 9 days and include all meals, local guide and transportation, and as with all CTA trips, custom packages are available.

Everglades: International Biosphere Reserve
Spanning the southern tip of the Florida peninsula and most of Florida Bay, Everglades National Park is the only subtropical preserve in North America. The park is known for its rich bird life, particularly large wading birds, such as the roseate spoonbill, wood stork, great blue heron and a variety of egrets. It is also the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles exist side by side. With the region's top trained naturalists at the helm, students travel by motorcoach, airboat, kayak, canoe and on foot [slogging] exploring the many intricacies of this amazing habitat. Studies of cypress, mangroves, sea turtles, alligators, ospreys, sharks, dolphins and coral reefs [snorkeling] underscore the adventure. (Not available in summer)
